A man in Australia is in trouble with the law after two dogs were found inside a locked bike storage area at a train station.
The police in New South Wales said the 57-year-old man was arrested after the dogs were discovered in poor condition.
On Wednesday, police went to the Penrith train station, which is not far from Sydney, after getting a call about dogs barking inside a bike locker.
When the police opened the locker, they found two greyhound dogs. One of the dogs had already died.
The police said the other dog was suffering from the heat. It was taken to a vet, but it died there.
After looking into what happened, the police arrested the man on Thursday morning. They didn’t say how they connected him to the dogs.
The man was taken to the police station and charged with ten counts of being cruel to animals.
The charges include hurting and killing an animal, being cruel to an animal, and keeping an animal in a cage that was too small.
He was not allowed to be released on bail and had a court appearance on Thursday. He is scheduled to appear in court again on November 27.
This event happened as some states in Australia are making the punishments for animal cruelty more severe. In South Australia, people who abuse animals could be fined up to $250,000 and go to jail for ten years.
