A former doctor in Michigan is going to prison for a long time – between 35 and 60 years. Oumair Aejaz was found guilty of several serious crimes involving sexual misconduct.
The case started when Aejaz’s wife discovered he was secretly recording her, their young children, and other female relatives.
Prosecutors said that Aejaz did not fight the charges against him. He was sentenced in court in Oakland County, Michigan.
The prosecuting attorney, Karen D. McDonald, said that this sentence will keep Aejaz from hurting anyone else. She also acknowledged that the harm he caused will not disappear.
Aejaz used to work at Ascension Genesys Hospital and Henry Ford Hospital Macomb.
He was found guilty of very serious crimes, including sexual assault and using a computer to commit a crime.
The investigation revealed that Aejaz also secretly recorded people at a swim school and in hospital rooms. He used hidden cameras to do this.
Sheriff Michael Bouchard praised the sentence and the work of the detectives who found the evidence.
There are still some investigations related to this case ongoing.
Three women have also filed lawsuits against Aejaz, claiming he recorded and sexually assaulted them at Henry Ford Hospital. They also claim that the hospital did nothing when they reported it.
