The Democratic Party has decided to keep secret a report looking into why they lost the White House and Senate in the 2024 elections. The report was meant to figure out what went wrong and how to win in the future.
Ken Martin, who leads the Democratic National Committee (DNC), said that releasing the report would take away from their main goal: winning back control of Congress in the next election.
The report involved talking to over 300 Democrats from every state. People were wondering if the report would look at whether former President Joe Biden should have run again, or if it would judge the decisions made by former Vice President Kamala Harris, who took Biden’s place as the party’s candidate.
Martin didn’t want to call the report an “autopsy,” because he said the Democratic Party wasn’t dead. Instead, he called it a “review.”
Even though the Democrats had some good wins recently, the Republican National Committee (RNC) says that voters don’t need a report to know why the Democratic Party is struggling. According to the RNC, people are leaving the Democratic Party because they support candidates who don’t like the country.
The Democratic Party is also behind the Republican Party in raising money. A recent poll showed that only a small number of voters approve of how Democrats in Congress are doing their jobs. Even many Democrats don’t approve of how Democratic lawmakers in Congress are doing. The poll suggests that the Democratic Party’s image is at a low point.
