New England Patriots’ Stefon Diggs Faces Allegations
Dedham, MA – Stefon Diggs, a prominent wide receiver for the New England Patriots, is currently facing legal challenges following an incident that allegedly occurred at his home earlier this month. The details emerged from court documents and a police report filed with the Dedham Police Department.
The allegations against Diggs include felony charges of strangulation or suffocation, along with a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery. These charges stem from an encounter that reportedly took place on December 2nd, the day after the Patriots’ game against the New York Giants.
According to the police report, the person making the accusations, who identified herself as Diggs’ personal chef, was initially hesitant to report the incident. However, she later provided a detailed account to the authorities.
The report indicates that the disagreement arose over a matter of payment. The chef claimed that Diggs struck her and put his hands around her neck, which caused her to struggle for breath and feel dizzy. She also reported experiencing pain and difficulty swallowing following the alleged incident.
The police report stated that the accuser felt the effects of strangulation and feared that she might have lost consciousness. She also expressed concerns about her safety.
Texts included in the police report show that the accuser texted Diggs about the money. Diggs replied with a statement that he don’t need to do anything. He also told her that she can get whoever she wants.
The report also mentioned that the chef believed Diggs owed her at least a month’s salary and that she needed his approval to receive her payments. She told police that she was originally supposed to be paid weekly via wire transfer, but she was paid monthly instead.
Following the report, police officials stated that they would seek a criminal complaint from Dedham District Court based on the information provided. Diggs’ legal representative, Michael DiStefano, requested the court to keep the report’s details private. However, the judge decided to make the report public after considering the request.
The chef told the police that she had been working for Diggs since July and was told that her services were no longer needed for the week of the supposed incident. She said she was told to leave Diggs’ residence and wasn’t given any money to find a place to stay.
After the alleged assault, the chef told police that she quit her job and then got messages from Diggs asking her to sign an agreement to not say anything about what happened.
The police have documented that they tried to talk to Diggs many times after the report was made.
Diggs is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, January 23.
The New England Patriots released a statement acknowledging the accusations against Diggs. They stated that Diggs denies the allegations and that the team supports him. The team also stated that they are gathering information and will help the proper authorities and the NFL if needed.
The NFL has also acknowledged the situation. They have contacted the Patriots and will refrain from making any further comments at this time.
In the current season, Diggs has recorded 82 catches for 970 yards and four touchdowns.
