Sean “Diddy” Combs didn’t get his request for a clean slate or a new trial. This happened just days before he’s set to find out his punishment.
A judge said the government had more than enough proof against Diddy. The 55-year-old used to be a big name in hip-hop. He’s going to be sentenced on Friday, October 3, for charges related to prostitution.
Before the sentencing, Diddy’s ex, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, wrote a letter. She asked the judge to think about how Diddy’s actions have hurt many people through “abuse and control.”
The people in charge of the case want Diddy to spend at least 11 years and three months in prison.
Diddy’s lawyers are asking for a much shorter sentence. They suggested he should only be in prison for 14 months, which is just a little longer than he’s already been in jail since his arrest in September 2024.
This sentencing will be the first time Diddy has been in court since his trial finished in July. He was found guilty of helping someone travel for prostitution. But he was found not guilty of more serious charges like racketeering and sex trafficking.
Diddy is still in jail because he wasn’t allowed to be released before his sentencing.
Even though he wasn’t found guilty of the worst charges, Diddy could still spend several years in prison.
His lawyers are saying that Diddy has had a tough time in jail. They claim the jail conditions are harsh and violent.
