NBA star DeMar DeRozan was reportedly involved in a heated incident at a sushi restaurant in California. The event took place on the night of April 18 at Yume Sushi in Calabasas, according to police.
Witnesses say the altercation began when an unidentified man pointed a phone with a bright light in DeRozan’s face. The 35-year-old All-Star then reacted by knocking the man’s phone out of his hand, escalating the situation.
A short video of the confrontation has surfaced, showing DeRozan pushing the other man to the ground. The man later gets up and insists on getting his phone back.
In the midst of the commotion, a woman in a gray sweatsuit, who appeared to be with DeRozan, intervened. She urged him not to escalate things further, exclaiming, “He’s not worth it!”
The footage continues to show DeRozan moving towards another part of the restaurant as the other man presses for his phone.
The police are currently looking into the matter, and no further details have been released yet. DeRozan, who has been playing for the Sacramento Kings for just over a year, joined the team after a three-year, $74 million sign-and-trade agreement for the 2024-2025 season.
