Delta Airlines Co-Pilot Arrested After Landing in San Francisco
A co-pilot from Delta Airlines was arrested in the cockpit shortly after the plane touched down at San Francisco International Airport. The pilot has been identified as 34-year-old Rustom Bhagwagar.
According to reports, Bhagwagar had just flown on Delta Flight 2809, which came from Minneapolis and landed around 9:35 p.m. on the evening of the incident. Law enforcement officials boarded the aircraft and took him into custody.
The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office stated that the arrest was made with support from Homeland Security Investigations. Bhagwagar faces serious charges, including five counts related to oral copulation with a child under 10. Details about whether he has entered a plea or secured legal representation are currently unclear.
Passengers on the flight described the scene as chaotic when officers entered the cockpit. One woman mentioned feeling confused, unsure of what was happening or if a crime had occurred.
A spokesperson for Homeland Security Investigations noted that they were assisting local authorities in executing an arrest warrant and indicated that the investigation is ongoing.
At this time, it remains uncertain what additional charges might be brought against the co-pilot.
