A former student is in trouble after police say they stopped a possible attack at the University of Delaware.
Luqmaan Khan, who is 25 years old, was arrested late at night on November 24. Police stopped his truck near the university. They said he didn’t want to get out of the car, and they found guns and notes inside.
The police say Khan had a loaded handgun, extra magazines, body armor, and binoculars. They also found a notebook with writings about how to fight and plans to attack the University of Delaware Police Department. The notebook also had drawings of buildings on the campus and messages about becoming a “martyr.”
The FBI says that when they searched Khan’s home, they found another handgun with a special device that makes it work like a machine gun. They also found a rifle, more magazines, bullets, and a vest that stops bullets.
Khan is now facing charges for having a large magazine, carrying a hidden weapon, and resisting arrest. The FBI has also charged him with having a machine gun. If he is found guilty of the machine gun charge, he could spend up to 10 years in jail.
Khan was a student at the University of Delaware but has been banned from the campus for now. He is being held in federal custody and is expected to appear in court later this month.
