President Trump has signed a big new bill into law to help our military.
The new law, called the National Defense Authorization Act for 2026, sets aside about $901 billion for our military. This is even more than what the President asked for.
Our troops will get a pay raise of almost 4 percent. The law also provides money to help Ukraine and countries near the Baltic Sea. It also aims to reduce some of our commitments in other countries.
Representative Rick Allen said that this new law shows President Trump’s commitment to keeping peace by having a strong military.
The law makes sure we don’t lower the number of our troops in Europe below 76,000 without Congress agreeing. It also keeps at least 28,500 troops in South Korea.
President Trump supported this bill because it supports things he believes in. This includes funding a missile defense system and cutting back on programs that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said that President Trump is making America stronger and showing that we won’t back down. He said the law shows the President’s promise of keeping peace through strength.
