Deborah Norville Bids Farewell After 30 Years with "Inside Edition"
After a remarkable three-decade journey, Deborah Norville is set to sign off as the host of "Inside Edition" on May 20. Since starting with the program in 1995, Norville has become a trusted face in American television, bringing stability to an industry often known for its rapid changes.
At 66, she is looking forward to a new chapter, including a long vacation in Europe with her husband and the debut of “The Perfect Line,” a trivia show launching this fall. As of now, there is no word on who will take over "Inside Edition."
“I’m thrilled about this game show,” she shared. “It’ll be fun, and who wouldn’t want to give away someone else’s money to happy contestants?”
When Norville transitioned to “Inside Edition” from CBS News, the show was viewed as less reputable compared to network news. Despite this, she is proud of the meaningful stories she’s shared. One such story highlighted a device for choking victims, which went on to save many lives, proving the show’s value to its viewers.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, "Inside Edition" adapted quickly, with Norville broadcasting from her kitchen, creating a sense of familiarity for audiences during uncertain times.
Reflecting on her time at "Inside Edition," she expressed, “We became a constant presence when everything else felt chaotic. That bond with our audience grew even stronger.”
In a recent conversation, Norville noted how emotions hit her as she prepared to leave. Her daughter, who was filmed for an "Inside Edition" piece on the day she was born, was present for her farewell. “Seeing her all grown up really emphasized what a big change this is for me,” Norville stated.
As she looks back, she acknowledged how the show has evolved over the years, shifting from sensationalist content to more relatable and meaningful storytelling. Norville emphasized the importance of connection, stating, “We’ve become a companion to our audience, not just on TV but across social media and online.”
With such a long tenure in one position becoming rare, she described her choice to stay at “Inside Edition” as a way to prioritize family. She turned down other career opportunities to ensure she could be the kind of mother she aspired to be.
Norville feels satisfied with her journey, appreciating her family, including a supportive husband and three wonderful children. “I didn’t mess up my kids,” she proudly asserted. Looking forward, she hopes her next adventure will be as rewarding as her time with "Inside Edition."
