David Charvet: From Hollywood Heartthrob to Dedicated Family Man
David Charvet, best known for his roles in “Baywatch” and “Melrose Place,” made a significant career shift nearly 20 years ago. Now, he is fully immersed in the construction industry, having co-founded Jones Builders Group in 2008, a company that specializes in building luxury homes in Los Angeles.
Reflecting on his decision, Charvet expressed that stepping away from acting allowed him to maintain his creativity while ensuring he could be present for his children. “I wanted to be home every morning and night to raise my kids,” he shared.
The 53-year-old actor no longer yearns for the limelight. He emphasized that he doesn’t miss the demanding workload that came with his past career in Hollywood. “It’s challenging to raise a family while being in the industry. I admire actors who manage to balance both,” he said.
As Charvet’s family grew, he realized he needed to prioritize being a hands-on father to his kids, Heaven and Shaya. He noted that many productions began filming outside of Los Angeles, often forcing actors to be away from home for long periods.
He acknowledged a deep commitment to his family, stating, “I promised my former wife, Brooke, that I would be involved.” After seven years of marriage, Charvet and Burke divorced in 2018, finalizing their separation in 2020.
Now focused on his construction business, Charvet and his team have teamed up with the fitness studio Burn LA. He is excited about their growth, mentioning plans for expansion beyond California.
Charvet admits that while he misses some aspects of his Hollywood days, especially the camaraderie onscreen, he has no regrets about his life choices. “I’ve learned so much about relationships and kindness through my experiences as a father,” he reflected.
In an earlier interview, Charvet noted that his desire to be a present father prompted him to redefine his life’s path. “I was traveling a lot before having kids, but I wanted to be there for them every day,” he explained.
Today, he embraces his dual roles as a devoted father and a builder. “Now, my job is to serve people, not to seek stardom,” he remarked, finding fulfillment in a life centered around family and community.
