Three women in Georgia have been taken into custody after a brawl that started over a prom dress.
Kaylee George faces charges for theft, while Morgan Flinchum and Leila DeJager have been charged with both battery and theft. The incident occurred on February 26 when an 18-year-old woman attempted to sell her prom dress to Flinchum at a RaceTrac gas station in Norcross, GA.
While inside the gas station, the victim and Flinchum planned for her to try on the dress. However, before the transaction could be finalized, George and DeJager reportedly assisted Flinchum in an attempt to snatch the dress without paying.
According to Gwinnett County Corporal Juan Madiedo, the individuals involved were familiar with one another. Surveillance footage shows the young woman fighting to protect the dress against the three women who outnumbered her.
In a tense moment, the petite victim, weighing just 102 pounds and standing at 5 feet tall, managed to flip one of her attackers over, causing her to fall to the ground. The victim’s boyfriend was also seen in the footage trying to intervene.
There seems to have been a dispute over the dress, which originally belonged to Flinchum but was held by the victim since her mother contributed to its cost. Flinchum had reached out to buy the dress.
Madiedo advised others looking to sell items to take precautions. He noted that Gwinnett County police stations offer specific areas for safe e-commerce transactions.
