Anna Kepner, an 18-year-old, was found dead on a cruise ship earlier this month. Reports say she died from not being able to breathe properly, which is called asphyxiation.
Anna was found under a bed on the Carnival Horizon cruise ship on November 8. News sources say that the initial investigation suggests she died because of a bar hold, which is when an arm is held tightly around someone’s neck.
According to reports, there were no signs that Anna was sexually assaulted, and no drugs or alcohol were found in her body. However, the full reports from the autopsy and toxicology tests are still being worked on.
Anna was a cheerleader from Titusville, Florida. She was on the cruise with her dad, stepmom, and two step-siblings.
The night before she was found, Anna went to bed early because she wasn’t feeling well.
People who knew Anna remember her as a kind and caring person. Her obituary says she was always thinking about others and had a “big, beautiful heart.”
As for the investigation, no one has been named as a suspect yet.
However, Anna’s stepmother mentioned in court documents that the FBI told her one of her children might face criminal charges. It’s not clear if these charges are related to Anna’s death.
