A mom from Minnesota is in trouble with the law after an event on a Carnival cruise ship.
Paetra Ann Grandsberry, from Saint Paul, Minnesota, was arrested and charged with child abuse when the Carnival Conquest ship arrived in Miami on December 22.
The trouble started on December 21 around 8:30 p.m. while the ship was near the Bahamas. Security officers were told about teens fighting. They spoke with Grandsberry, who said she was very upset because her sons had been attacked by other kids on the ship.
While talking to security, Grandsberry saw a group of kids running. She thought one of them was the same person who had hit her sons. According to the report, she “ran away from security and jumped on top of the victim and grabbed him by his collar.”
The boy later identified Grandsberry in a photo. He told police that he was just walking when he saw people running and joined them because he thought they were running from something dangerous.
The boy said that Grandsberry came up behind him, tackled him, grabbed his collar, and pulled him up.
He also said he heard Grandsberry telling her children to attack him, saying he was one of the kids who hurt her son.
Grandsberry, who is 38 years old, told the authorities that she “ran up on the victim and accidently fell on top of him.”
Grandsberry is currently being held in jail in Miami with a $2,500 bond.
