COLUMBIA, S.C. – As the holiday season approaches, local police departments and charitable organizations are eager to help those in need.
If you’re feeling generous this holiday season, consider donating to one of the following initiatives:
- Join the spirit of giving with the Shop with a Cop program. The Irmo Police Department Community Foundation is collecting donations until December 5 to assist families in the community during the holidays. Contributions can be dropped off at the Irmo Police Department located at 1230 Columbia Ave., Irmo, SC 29063. You can also donate online at irmopdcommunityfoundation.org or send donations via mail.
- Blythewood Middle School is hosting its annual Canned Food and Toiletries Drive from November 11 to November 21. They are collecting non-perishable food items and toiletries to support the Christian Assistance Bridge.
- The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its Operation Santa Claus, delivering toys to children facing difficulties this holiday season. They are accepting new toys for kids of all ages as well as gift cards for older youth. Donations can be dropped off at the sheriff’s office at 550 Wilson Road.
- The residents of Richland County have the opportunity to help ‘Stuff an Ambulance’ with much-needed items.
- The C.H.U.G.S. Winter Donation Drive, organized by the City of Columbia Homeless Services and the Office of Violent Crime Prevention, runs from November 11 to November 31. They are looking for donations of coats, hats, undergarments, gloves, and socks to keep the community warm. Both new and gently used items are welcome.
