Award-winning actor Courtney B. Vance is set to narrate the first-ever audio edition of a highly regarded biography that explores the life of W.E.B. Du Bois, a significant figure in American history known for his contributions to civil rights and education. This biography, written by David Levering Lewis, spans two volumes and has received critical acclaim over the past three decades.
The initial volume is scheduled for release on June 17. Vance expressed his excitement about the project, stating that his passion for history drew him to Du Bois’s story. He described the opportunity to share Du Bois’s legacy with a new audience through audiobooks as both an honor and a deeply rewarding experience.
David Levering Lewis, the author of these Pulitzer Prize-winning biographies—“W.E.B. Du Bois: Biography of a Race, 1868–1919” and “W. E. B. Du Bois: The Fight for Equality and the American Century, 1919–1963”—shared his delight in seeing his work made available in audio format.
