Coco Jones, a rising star in the music industry, recently pondered about the kind of music she would create if there were no limitations or fears holding her back. She is known for her passionate style and authenticity, and with her latest album, “Why Not More?”, she aims to reflect that fearless attitude.
In her own words, Jones expressed, “What would I do if I didn’t have any fear of comparing myself to previous works? That was the mood: just be fearless.” This mindset guided her while writing her debut album, which is a follow-up to her successful EP from 2022, “What I Didn’t Tell You.”
As a testament to her hard work, Jones celebrated a significant milestone earlier this year by winning her first Grammy for her song “ICU.” She shared her pride in all the versions of herself she has embraced and the confidence she has in her current project.
The 14-track album showcases a variety of R&B styles, exploring different vibes from introspective melodies to seductive rhythms. Jones was involved in writing every song, collaborating with notable producers and featuring artists like Future and YG Marley.
Despite the pressures that come with the success of her hit song “ICU,” Jones remained focused on her own artistic journey, emphasizing the importance of authenticity. “I was just doing what felt right. I was being honest; I was just being vulnerable,” she explained.
With tracks like “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” already hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, her talent is undeniable. Another single, “Taste,” which cleverly interpolates Britney Spears’ classic “Toxic,” also reflects her ability to blend different influences while staying true to herself.
On the album, she tackles themes of love and personal empowerment. In the heartfelt ballad “Other Side of Love,” she expresses the complexities of relationships. Meanwhile, “By Myself” stands out as a declaration of self-reliance, underscoring the necessity of personal growth and emotional independence.
Jones currently stars as Hilary Banks in the popular series “Bel-Air” and is gearing up for the show’s fourth and final season. Alongside acting, she is preparing for her upcoming tour, which starts on May 6 in Philadelphia.
Reflecting on her aspirations, Jones acknowledges her drive to surpass her childhood dreams. “I definitely see them materializing, but I have a long way to go to really be what childhood Coco envisioned for me. I was shooting for the galaxy,” she said, demonstrating her ambitious spirit.
Coco Jones continues to inspire many with her talent and determination, perfectly embodying the idea that hard work and authenticity can lead to great success, both in music and beyond.
