Christine Brown opened up about her experiences in her marriage to Kody Brown during the latest episode of TLC’s “Sister Wives.” On a recent road trip with her new partner, David Woolley, Christine reflected on the excessive expectations that Kody had regarding the appearance of his wives.
During a mid-season premiere, Christine discussed how Kody often praised the looks of some of his wives while she and Janelle were busy with chores. “He liked makeup. You had to always look nice,” Christine revealed. She recounted how, during camping trips, she and Janelle would be hard at work preparing meals and cleaning, while Robyn would take her time on her appearance.
“He would sit there and praise how they looked when we were the ones sweating and working hard,” Christine expressed, explaining how this behavior contributed to her dislike for camping.
Christine, who left Kody in 2021, mentioned that such situations were frequent during her marriage. Woolley reacted by calling Kody’s expectations “really shallow.” Janelle also commented, recalling that Christine often felt upset when Robyn was focused on her makeup instead of helping.
While Christina voiced her frustrations, Janelle maintained a more relaxed attitude, choosing to enjoy the camping experience despite the annoyance. Robyn shared her own struggles during their camping experience, revealing that she was dealing with significant nausea due to pregnancy at the time.
Meri Brown supported Christine’s observations, noting that Kody has always desired his partners to present themselves well, even recalling how he encouraged her to dress up when they first started dating.
Christine felt significant pressure to look good, sharing how Kody’s constant comparisons left her feeling insecure. She noted that Robyn was often placed on a pedestal while she felt inadequate.
As for Kody, he mentioned that he never felt like he was truly favored by any of his wives, indicating that the dynamic was complex. With Christine, Janelle, and Meri all having left him within a short span, Kody now finds himself only with Robyn as the season showcases the family’s ongoing adjustments to their new reality after their once harmonious polygamous life.
