Florida Man Accused of Shooting His Three Sons
A Florida man is in serious legal trouble after allegedly shooting his three sons over the weekend.
Chris Brown, 36, reportedly shot one of his sons accidentally while trying to use a gun to strike the boy. After the first shooting, he allegedly fired at his other two sons when they approached him, as mentioned in an affidavit.
Brown faces multiple serious charges, including two counts of attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and three counts of aggravated battery causing significant harm. He is also charged for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to the affidavit, the incident occurred on May 18 while the three boys were walking to a community pool in Ruskin, located about 35 miles south of Tampa. The boys, who are not named due to their age, told police they were trying to avoid their father, who had been causing problems at home.
As they walked, Brown reportedly pulled up and approached one son with a "pink and black semiautomatic" in his hand. He allegedly struck the boy’s face with the gun, which caused it to discharge and grazed the boy’s jawline and ear.
While retreating to his car, Brown is accused of firing several rounds at his other two sons. Investigators obtained video footage of the event, showing Brown hitting one son before shooting as the boys approached him.
After the incident, Brown allegedly called one of his sons and made chilling threats, saying "I tried to take your life" and "you won’t make it to Wednesday." This phone call was recorded by the son.
Authorities arrested Brown later that day, and his behavior during the arrest led to additional charges, including resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
Brown is scheduled to appear in court on May 22. Due to his felony status and the serious nature of the charges, he is not eligible for parole.
