Olympus and Maple Mountain High Schools Celebrate Cheerleading Victories
The Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) 5A cheerleading championships concluded Wednesday night with new teams rising to the top. Olympus High School secured the state title in the 5A all-girl division, while Maple Mountain High School triumphed in the 5A co-ed division.
These victories mark the first state championships for both Olympus and Maple Mountain since the UHSAA officially recognized cheerleading as a sanctioned sport in 2023.
Olympus High School’s coach, Hailie Caso, expressed pride in her team’s accomplishment. “This team is something special. In what was a rebuilding year for us, we also faced adversity all season long— setbacks, injuries and challenges. No matter what happened they continued to stay focused, trust the process, and in the end their perseverance paid off. We are so blessed to be the 2026 state champions,” said Caso.
Olympus demonstrated consistent performance across all categories, achieving top-three placements in Dance, Cheer, and Show. They won the Dance category, while Salem Hills High School claimed victory in Cheer, and Fremont High School took first place in the Show category. Salem Hills, who previously held the all-girls state title for the past three years, finished third this year, while Fremont High School finished second overall.
In the co-ed division, Maple Mountain narrowly edged out Northridge High School for the championship, following Cedar Valley’s move to the 6A division. Box Elder High School secured third place.
Maple Mountain excelled in the Show category, earning first place, and placed second in Dance. Although they did not achieve a top-three finish in the Cheer category, their overall performance secured them the state title.
Northridge consistently performed well, achieving top-three placements in all categories, including a first-place win in Dance. Box Elder took first place in the Cheer category.
