LONDON — The winners of the 2025 British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTAs, were announced on Sunday, celebrating outstanding achievements in cinema.
The film “Conclave” took home the top prize for Best Film and was also recognized as the Best British Film. Director Brady Corbet received accolades for his work on “The Brutalist,” which earned him the Best Director award. Adrien Brody was named Best Actor for his role in “The Brutalist,” while Mikey Madison won Best Actress for her performance in “Anora.”
In supporting categories, Kieran Culkin was awarded Best Supporting Actor for “A Real Pain,” and Zoe Saldaña was honored as Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Emilia Pérez.” The Rising Star award, voted on by the public, went to David Jonsson.
Rich Peppiatt’s “Kneecap” was recognized for Outstanding British Debut, and Jesse Eisenberg’s “A Real Pain” took home the award for Best Original Screenplay. The Best Adapted Screenplay award was given to Peter Straughan for “Conclave.” “Emilia Pérez” was highlighted as the Best Film Not in the English Language.
Other notable awards included Daniel Blumberg for Best Musical Score for “The Brutalist,” and Lol Crawley for Best Cinematography, also for “The Brutalist.” The editing award went to “Conclave,” while “Wicked” received honors for both Production Design and Costume Design. The sound and visual effects awards were given to “Dune: Part Two,” and the Best Makeup and Hair award went to “The Substance.”
In the animated categories, “Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl” was named Best Animated Film and Best Children’s and Family Film. The documentary award went to “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.” The award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema was presented to MediCinema, and the prestigious BAFTA Fellowship was awarded to Warwick Davis.
This year’s ceremony highlighted the rich talent within the film industry, showcasing works that entertain and provoke thought.
