Donald Trump’s upcoming presidential inauguration is set to feature various musical performances, including appearances by Carrie Underwood, the Village People, and Lee Greenwood. Underwood expressed her excitement to take the stage during the inauguration ceremony on January 20 at the U.S. Capitol, stating she feels “honored” to be part of such an important event.
In her statement, Underwood shared, “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.” She will perform “America the Beautiful,” supported by the Armed Forces Choir and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
The Village People, well-known for their classic hits, have also been a fixture at Trump’s rallies over the past year. They plan to perform at one of the inaugural balls and a rally leading up to the inauguration. In a recent post on Facebook, the group acknowledged that their participation might not please everyone but affirmed their belief in the power of music to bridge divides. They referred to “Y.M.C.A.” as a global anthem that can help bring the country together after a divisive campaign.
In addition to these artists, opera singer Christopher Macchio is also scheduled to perform during the inauguration festivities. As Trump prepares to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, it appears that the events will be a celebration of both political and national unity.
