Cara Delevingne Shines at Cannes Film Festival Amid New Dress Code
Cara Delevingne graced the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year in stunning fashion while also navigating the event’s new dress code. The festival introduced regulations that banned nude outfits and excessive gown trains, citing the need for "decency" and to ensure smooth movement for guests.
Delevingne, stepping out in an elegant red Miu Miu gown with a drop waist, admitted she was unaware of these new rules. "I heard about the dress code, but I don’t think I truly got it," she said with a laugh.
This year’s code reflects a careful effort to maintain decorum at the festival. According to organizers, both nudity and extravagant dresses that inhibit movement are prohibited to enhance the guest experience.
In a playful take, Delevingne mentioned, “I’m not much of a train person. A train is effort!” She seemed relieved that her outfits were in line with the new guidelines.
For her appearance on May 21, she donned a floor-length red gown, complete with a dramatic silhouette, and switched up her look with a striking black wig. “It felt really fun to put an edgy twist on a classic dress,” she remarked.
On May 22, for the premiere of Colors of Time, she opted for a black strapless gown with a bold slit at the back, alongside sheer black opera gloves. While she’s worn gowns with trains in previous years, Delevingne seemed to prefer a simpler approach this time around.
Delevingne attended the festival as a spokesperson for L’Oréal Paris and participated in the Lights on Women’s Worth Awards, celebrating women in film. She expressed her admiration for the diverse voices represented in the L’Oréal Paris community, highlighting the importance of female empowerment in the industry.
“It’s not just a brand; it’s about supporting women and their stories,” she said, emphasizing the need for more female representation in film.
As summer approaches, Delevingne plans to embrace a light beauty routine, focusing on maintaining a glowy look during warm months, using her go-to L’Oréal products. "I love keeping it simple," she concluded, ready to enjoy the season ahead.
