Tragic Incident in Los Angeles: Vehicle Crashes into Crowd
In a serious incident early Saturday morning, a car drove into a crowd on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, resulting in injuries to at least 30 people. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported that about seven of those injured are in critical condition, and several others are seriously hurt.
The accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. local time, when a vehicle struck people who were reportedly waiting to enter the Vermont Hollywood nightclub. According to witnesses, the crowd was gathered near a taco cart and a valet line at the time of the crash.
The driver of the vehicle is said to have been removed from a nearby establishment right before the accident occurred. After the crash, the driver suffered a gunshot wound when bystanders pulled him from the car and began to attack him.
Authorities noted that many of the victims were women, and some were seriously injured. A witness mentioned that a fight broke out just before the car drove into the crowd.
Mayor Karen Bass expressed her sorrow over the situation, praising the quick response of emergency personnel. “This is a heartbreaking tragedy,” she said. “The hearts of Angelenos are with all of the victims impacted this morning – a full investigation into what happened is underway.”
The incident is currently under investigation, with police and fire teams on-site to assist.
