California Official Challenges Hospital’s Decision on Youth Treatment
San Diego, CA – California Attorney General Rob Bonta has started a legal challenge against Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. The lawsuit concerns the hospital’s decision to stop providing certain treatments to those under 18.
The heart of the matter is that Rady Children’s Hospital ended a specific type of care for young people, reportedly due to concerns raised by the federal government about funding. Bonta argues this move goes against an agreement made when Rady joined with Children’s Hospital of Orange County. The agreement, according to Bonta, included a promise to continue offering this type of care.
Rady Children’s Hospital stated that it made a “very difficult decision” to ensure they continue to provide health care service to all children and their families.
This situation is developing amidst ongoing discussions about the role of hospitals and doctors in providing medical care to children, especially when it comes to new treatments.
