Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Season Cut Short by Injury
Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever has announced that she will not return for the rest of the WNBA season due to an injury. The 23-year-old star shared her feelings on Instagram, stating that “disappointed isn’t a big enough word” to describe her emotions.
Clark last played on July 15, suffering a right groin injury late in the game. Unfortunately, her recovery faced further setbacks, including a bone bruise. She limited her play this season to just 13 games, which marks a significant challenge for a player who had previously maintained a strong track record.
In her Instagram post, Clark expressed her frustration but also gratitude towards her fans and teammates. “I had hoped to share a better update,” she wrote, explaining the extensive hours she spent in rehabilitation. Despite her disappointment, she recognized the support from fans as a source of encouragement. “The fans showed up for me and the Fever, bringing me joy during this tough time.”
Her teammates rallied around her in the comments, expressing their encouragement and optimism for her future. They anticipate a strong comeback in the upcoming 2026 season.
Amber Cox, the Fever’s chief operating officer, emphasized the team’s commitment to Clark’s long-term health and well-being. “While there’s not enough time left in the season for her safe return, we look forward to having her back at full strength next year,” she stated.
Before this injury, Clark had an impressive record, never missing a game during her college years or her rookie season in the WNBA. The team and its fans eagerly await her return.
