Actor Timothy Busfield Faces Serious Charges in New Mexico
Albuquerque, N.M. – Timothy Busfield, a well-known actor and director, turned himself in to New Mexico authorities this Tuesday. He faces charges of child sex abuse, following allegations of inappropriate behavior with a minor on the set of “The Cleaning Lady,” a television series he directed.
Police in Albuquerque issued an arrest warrant for Busfield last Friday. The charges include two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse. The accusations stem from alleged incidents that occurred during the filming of the TV series.
Busfield, famous for his roles in “The West Wing,” “Field of Dreams,” and “Thirtysomething,” where he won an Emmy, denied these allegations when first questioned last fall.
According to the criminal complaint, a young boy stated that Busfield touched him inappropriately over his clothing on several occasions when he was seven and eight years old. The boy reportedly feared speaking out because Busfield was the director.
The investigation began in November 2024 after a report from a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital. One of the boys involved has reportedly been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety.
Busfield has publicly stated that the accusations are false. He suggested that the mother of the children may be seeking revenge because her children were replaced on the show.
This case raises important questions about the safety of children in the entertainment industry and the need for accountability when such serious accusations arise. The legal process will now unfold, and the truth will hopefully come to light.
