Brian Austin Green recently revealed he had to undergo emergency surgery for a perforated appendix after feeling intense stomach pain. The 51-year-old actor shared his experience on social media, explaining how doctors discovered his appendix was on the verge of bursting.
In a video posted on Instagram, Green expressed his gratitude towards the medical staff at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center in Los Angeles. He had initially sought help at a couple of other emergency rooms in the area but found them too crowded. It was at Cedars-Sinai that doctors were able to diagnose his condition just before it became critical.
A perforated appendix can lead to serious complications if not treated promptly. If a hole develops in the appendix, it can allow bacteria to enter the abdominal cavity, potentially resulting in peritonitis, which is an infection of the abdominal lining, or an appendiceal abscess, leading to further health issues. Fortunately for Green, he received timely medical intervention.
In his heartfelt message, Green praised the hospital staff for their compassion and professionalism. “They were fantastic. They got me in right away, got me right into surgery. The after-care was phenomenal,” he said. “Every single person that was there was incredibly kind and supportive.”
The actor emphasized the importance of recognizing the dedication of healthcare professionals. “When you find great places with great people who work really hard for you, they deserve a shout-out,” he remarked.
Green is a father of five, sharing children with ex-partners, including actors Vanessa Marcil and Megan Fox. He recently welcomed a new baby with his fiancée, Sharna Burgess, adding joy to his family.
As he works on his recovery, Green reminded his followers that while the healing process can be tough, he is on the road to getting better. This surgery marks his first major operation, although he has had smaller procedures in the past.
In previous discussions about his health, Green has opened up about facing challenges with his well-being over the years, including lengthy recoveries from various symptoms that left him bedridden. He emphasized that changes in his diet and stress management played a crucial role in improving his health.
Green’s experience serves as a reminder of the importance of timely medical care and the immense value of dedicated healthcare workers who strive to provide the best for their patients.
