Women Unite for Supercar Passion in Dubai
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — In a remarkable gathering, women from various backgrounds came together in Dubai to share their love for supercars. This weekend, they participated in an exciting car rally organized by the Arabian Gazelles, the first-ever all-female supercar owners club in the region.
The rally attracted around 30 women, both locals and expatriates, who embarked on a four-day tour across the United Arab Emirates. Founded eight years ago by Hanan Mazouzi Sobati, the Arabian Gazelles aims to empower women in the male-dominated automotive world.
Mazouzi Sobati expressed her frustration with the lack of female representation in automotive events. As a lifelong car enthusiast who preferred watching Formula 1 over cartoons as a child, she decided it was time to make a change. Often, she was the only woman at car events, attending in place of her husband.
Initially, brands were reluctant to support an all-female car club, but attitudes are slowly shifting. “We want people to stop assuming that there’s always a man behind a woman in a supercar,” she remarked.
During the rally, participants were invited by BMW to test drive cars on race tracks, further highlighting their capabilities. “We don’t need permission to drive or to pursue our passion,” she affirmed. “If there’s no seat at the table, we create our own.”
Through events like this, the Arabian Gazelles are not only enjoying their love of supercars but also reshaping perceptions about women in the automotive industry.
