Multiple Minors Arrested After Brawl at New Jersey Mall
A significant disturbance occurred at the Menlo Park Mall in Edison, New Jersey, on May 17, resulting in the arrest of several minors. The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. when the Edison Police were alerted to a gathering of over 300 young people.
Edison Mayor Sam Joshi reported that a large fight broke out among the crowd. He confirmed that no weapons were found and that there were no reported injuries among the teens involved. Local police from nearby areas were called in to help manage the situation.
The number of arrests reported varies; Mayor Joshi stated that at least four individuals were taken into custody, while Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan mentioned that seven minors were arrested. One juvenile faces a charge of aggravated assault on a police officer, while others may be charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Footage of the chaotic scene showed groups of teenagers running through the food court, with loud shouting in the background. Prior to the brawl, social media posts indicated that teens were planning to meet at the mall that evening.
At this time, the police department and mall representatives have not provided further comments on the situation.
