Brady Bunch Cast Reflects on Meaningful Reunion
The beloved cast of The Brady Bunch—Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland, and Susan Olsen—reunited for a special HGTV project, A Very Brady Renovation, in 2019. This gathering, unlike many before, held a special place in their hearts, and the cast couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity.
Christopher Knight, known for his role as Peter Brady, described it as one of the best reunion shows he has experienced. “That was probably the number-one best reunion show, in my book,” he shared at a recent event in New York.
Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady, emphasized that during this reunion, they were being themselves rather than their characters. “We weren’t playing characters. We were ourselves,” he noted, which made the experience more authentic.
The reunion served as more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. It provided a chance to truly connect with the past, including the iconic house that served as the backdrop for many cherished memories. Interestingly, for many of the stars, this reunion was their first real glimpse of the house. Williams explained, “That wasn’t the Brady House [to us]. We didn’t even know where that was.”
Olsen added that she had avoided the actual house for years, thinking it could never match the illusion created on screen. It wasn’t until a now-deceased friend invited her to see the house that she finally stepped foot outside its doors, tromping outside the iconic structure in a rather humorous and unexpected situation.
Transforming the house back into the familiar "Brady" setting for the HGTV show was a thrilling endeavor for the cast. Williams described the project as “pretty fabulous,” revealing that it captured the essence of what fans loved about the show. Knight remarked, “Now it’s very much the Brady House,” while Williams added that witnessing the transformation of a set into a real home was remarkable.
With smiles and laughter, they remembered how fans reacted as they explored their beloved home. Olsen joked about filming a talk show there, quipping that visitors felt like children again as they stepped through the doors.
In the end, the cast reflects on this unique opportunity to blend their cherished memories with a piece of real estate history, creating a renewed appreciation for what The Brady Bunch has meant over the decades.
