In Minneapolis, a situation unfolded where Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, lost his life after being shot by federal agents. Following this, Gregory Bovino, a high-ranking official with the U.S. Border Patrol, stated that Pretti “put himself in that situation.”
Bovino, during a TV interview, suggested the Border Patrol agents were the victims. He explained that Pretti involved himself in an ongoing law enforcement operation targeting a “violent illegal alien.” According to Bovino, Pretti interfered with the agents while armed.
However, video footage showed a different story. It appeared Pretti was among a group of protestors, holding only his phone when agents used pepper spray. Agents then approached and subdued him. The footage suggests Pretti’s gun was already out when he was shot.
During the TV interview, Dana Bash noted that Pretti didn’t seem to be threatening anyone with a weapon in the videos. Bovino stressed that investigations will uncover the truth of what happened. He maintained that Pretti had a loaded gun at a riot. The details of what occurred in the moments leading up to the shooting will be revealed through the investigation.
