Bondi Calls for Accountability After Judge Dismisses Cases Against Comey, James
Memphis, TN – Former Attorney General Pam Bondi spoke out Monday, urging further legal action against James Comey, former head of the FBI, and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Her remarks followed a court decision to throw out indictments against both individuals, citing questions about the legitimacy of the prosecutor who brought the charges.
Judge Cameron Currie ruled that Lindsey Halligan, the prosecutor in question, had not been properly appointed as interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. This decision led to the dismissal of the cases against Comey and James.
Bondi, however, made it clear that she believes Comey and James should still be held responsible for their actions. “We’ll be taking all available legal action, including an immediate appeal, to hold Letitia James and James Comey accountable for their unlawful conduct,” Bondi stated.
Comey was previously accused of making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional inquiry related to the investigation into alleged ties between Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia. James faced charges of mortgage and bank fraud.
Bondi defended Halligan’s qualifications and appointment, saying, “Lindsay Halligan is an excellent US attorney.” She indicated that the legal team is preparing an appeal and remains confident in their ability to prove their case against Comey and James. The legal battle is expected to continue as Bondi and others push for accountability.
