Authorities Confirm Death of Missing Navy Sailor Angelina Petra Resendiz
Authorities have confirmed that missing Navy sailor Angelina Petra Resendiz was found dead in Virginia. She was discovered in a wooded area in Norfolk on June 9, approximately a week and a half after she was last seen at her barracks on May 29.
The Norfolk Medical Examiner’s Office identified Resendiz’s body. According to a report, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) found her remains a day earlier. While a cause of death has not been disclosed, officials have stated that a fellow Navy sailor is now in "pretrial confinement" related to her case.
A critically missing adult alert was issued for Resendiz, 21, on June 3, following her disappearance from Miller Hall at Naval Station Norfolk. Her family expressed deep sorrow over her sudden disappearance, describing Angelina as a loving and dedicated individual. They voiced their heartbreak in a statement shared on social media.
Before her untimely passing, Resendiz was serving on the USS James E. Williams. Her family and friends continue to mourn her loss during this difficult time.
