Black Friday Shows Strong Consumer Confidence
Despite concerns about the economy, Americans showed their strong spirit of buying this Black Friday, with record spending both online and in stores.
Online sales hit new highs. Adobe Analytics says shoppers spent a record $11.8 billion online, a big jump from last year. Popular items included video game systems, electronics, and things for the home.
Salesforce, another company that watches shopping trends, estimated that online sales reached $18 billion in the U.S.
Mastercard SpendingPulse reported that overall Black Friday sales, not counting cars, rose by over 4% compared to last year. Online sales increased by double digits, showing that people like the convenience of shopping from home.
Experts say that shoppers are still being careful with their money, looking for good deals.
While online shopping is becoming more popular, stores still saw a lot of traffic.
Looking ahead, experts think that shoppers will continue to spend money throughout the holiday season, with another big day expected on Cyber Monday.
