Limp Bizkit Bassist Sam Rivers Passes Away
Sam Rivers, the bass player for the band Limp Bizkit, has died, according to statements from his fellow band members.
While the band has not released details regarding the location or cause of Rivers’ death, they shared their admiration for him, calling him “pure magic” and “the soul in the sound.”
In a post on social media, the band wrote, “From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous.”
Fred Durst, Limp Bizkit’s frontman, shared a video recalling how he and Rivers met in Florida and achieved success together, performing around the world. He expressed deep sadness at the loss of his friend.
Rivers, 48, had previously discussed struggling with heavy drinking and related liver issues. He left the band in 2015 and underwent a liver transplant before rejoining Limp Bizkit three years later.
Durst mentioned that he and Rivers shared an appreciation for bands like Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains, and Stone Temple Pilots. He described Rivers’ unique ability to express emotion through his bass playing, calling him exceptionally talented.
Limp Bizkit, formed in Jacksonville, Florida, gained popularity in the late 1990s with their blend of rock, metal, and rap.
