Shocking Discovery on Washington Beach
A family outing turned eerie for Kevin Ewing when he stumbled upon a shocking find while celebrating Father’s Day at Dash Point State Park in Washington. On June 15, while searching for feathers on the beach, Ewing found a gift-wrapped box that looked like a holiday present.
Opening the box, he was taken aback to discover a severed human toe inside. Ewing, accompanied by his wife and two children, described the experience as “very creepy,” akin to something out of a horror film.
The box, wrapped in green cloth and tied with a yellow string, contained not just the toe but also a pocket knife, a feather, grass, sage, lavender, tobacco, and a rag. Initially skeptical, Ewing used his knife to unwrap the rag, revealing the toe. “At first I was very shocked,” he recounted, adding that it took him time to process the bizarre find.
Nearby, he noticed a mutilated seagull, and although he wondered if the two discoveries were connected, he could not be sure. “Where is the rest of the body?” he pondered, speculating whether the toe washed ashore or was deliberately placed there.
Ewing promptly contacted a park ranger, prompting an investigation by the Washington State Patrol. Trooper Rick Johnson noted that the toe was sent to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office for DNA analysis to help identify its owner.
An incident report indicated that the toe appeared to be that of an adult male. This unsettling find has left Ewing contemplating whether someone is playing a bizarre game and hoping for answers regarding the toe’s origin. After making the discovery, he decided to leave the area, feeling uneasy about what else might be lurking nearby.
