Outkast rapper Big Boi is grieving the loss of his uncle, who was killed following a road rage incident.
On June 16, Remoin Thomas Patton Sr. was shot during an argument with another driver on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW, as reported by the Atlanta Police. Patton was struck in the back and his vehicle crashed into an empty house, but fortunately, no one inside was hurt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Known as “Uncle Moonie” to his family, Patton was 62 years old. Following the incident, police arrested 32-year-old Janisha Crumbley on June 20 for allegedly helping someone avoid capture. Another suspect, 18-year-old Jabyrion Crumbley, turned himself in on July 2 and faces serious charges, including murder and aggravated assault.
Big Boi shared his heartbreak in a statement, calling his uncle beloved by many. He said, “A moment of rage has totally pierced the heart of my family forever.”
Patton was remembered by his loved ones as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who played an important role in his community.
As investigations continue, many are left searching for answers and justice in this tragic event.
