Benny Blanco Opens Up About Forgetting His Own Hits and Wedding Plans
In a recent episode of the podcast Therapuss, music producer Benny Blanco shared an amusing revelation: he sometimes has to use the Shazam app to identify his own songs. During his conversation with host Jake Shane, Blanco humorously admitted that, with a busy career spanning over 16 years, he struggles to keep track of everything he’s created.
Blanco, 37, recalled stepping into a restaurant and hearing a familiar tune. “I think to myself, ‘Wow, this song is great!’ and then I check Shazam, only to find out it’s one of my own tracks,” he said. His extensive catalog includes collaborations with big names like Britney Spears, Kesha, and Ed Sheeran. He expressed that his memory sometimes falters when recalling the vast amount of music he has produced.
Throughout his career, Blanco has enjoyed a range of successful collaborations, including hits like “Circus” by Britney Spears and Kesha’s “TiK ToK.” He also worked on Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” and Ed Sheeran’s “Happier.”
Interestingly, Blanco’s personal life has also intertwined with his music career. He has collaborated with his fiancée, Selena Gomez, for years. Their latest album, I Said I Love You First, offers insights into their relationship and came about organically as they worked together creatively.
While discussing their wedding plans, Blanco noted that both he and Gomez have been incredibly busy with their work, leaving little time for wedding preparations. “We need to slow down a bit; we’ve been juggling so much,” he remarked. With their hectic schedules filled with music videos, promotions, and upcoming projects, they remain hopeful and excited for what’s next.
Blanco’s candidness about his career and personal life highlights the balancing act many in the entertainment industry face, blending the pressures of work with the joys of love and creativity.
