A man from New York is in trouble with the law. He’s accused of hurting and stealing from a 12-year-old boy.
Marquise Utsey, who is 34 years old, was charged on Tuesday with serious crimes. These include rape, sexual abuse, robbery, and putting a child in danger.
The police say that Utsey met the boy on a social media app that is also used for dating. On December 6th, Utsey went to the boy’s house when he was alone. There, he allegedly attacked the boy and then demanded money from him.
The boy was scared, so he went into a family member’s room and gave Utsey money he found there, according to the police.
When the boy’s parents came home, he told them what happened. They called the police, who found Utsey and arrested him.
A judge has set Utsey’s bail at $1.5 million. If he is found guilty, he could spend up to 25 years in jail. His next court date is in February 2026. It’s not known if he has said whether he is guilty or not.
