The family of Anna Kepner, a teenager who passed away on a cruise, is preparing for a Thanksgiving holiday that will be different this year. They plan to honor Anna’s memory while spending time together.
Anna was found dead on the Carnival Horizon cruise ship on November 7. The medical examiner determined that she died from “mechanical asphyxiation,” according to ABC News.
Christopher Kepner, Anna’s father, mentioned that their family usually lets the kids decide what they want for Thanksgiving dinner.
This year, the family plans to stay close and have steak on the grill instead of a traditional turkey dinner.
“We’re not really doing Thanksgiving-Thanksgiving,” he said. “We’re gonna do it more different this year. We’re still going to celebrate and Anna is here with us.”
Anna loved cornbread casserole and always had it for Thanksgiving.
Authorities have not yet publicly named a suspect in Anna’s death.
Christopher says he wants the person responsible for Anna’s death to face the consequences and will fight to make sure that happens.
The FBI is still investigating the case but has not provided any updates.
