Angie Stone’s Family Files Lawsuit Following Tragic Car Crash
The family of late singer Angie Stone has taken legal action against the drivers and companies involved in a tragic car accident that claimed her life earlier this year. Stone’s children, Diamond Stone and Michael D’Angelo Archer, filed a lawsuit on Tuesday in Gwinnett County, Georgia.
The lawsuit alleges that Angie survived the initial crash, which occurred when the driver of the van she was traveling in lost control. The van, carrying Angie and several members of her entourage, flipped over during the incident. Tragically, as Angie attempted to escape the vehicle, she was struck by a tractor-trailer carrying sugar, leading to her death.
According to court documents, good Samaritans helped pull five passengers from the overturned van. However, Angie was still inside when the truck collided with the vehicle, resulting in her being ejected and pinned underneath it. The lawsuit emphasizes that Angie experienced significant suffering as she remained trapped before eventually succumbing to her injuries.
The complaint also highlights the negligence of the tractor-trailer driver, claiming he was not paying adequate attention to the road. In addition, it states that a safety system designed to prevent such collisions failed to function properly.
At the time of the crash, Angie was returning home from a performance in Mobile, Alabama. She was 63 years old. The documents paint a heartbreaking picture of her final moments, stating that she “consciously suffered” while trapped as the circumstances led to her untimely demise.
The two companies named in the lawsuit, CSRT and Daimler Truck North America, have not yet commented on the allegations. The Stone family’s pursuit of justice underlines their pain and the legal pursuit for accountability in this tragic situation.
Angie Stone, known for her powerful R&B voice, shared her daughter Diamond with her ex-husband, Rodney Stone, and her son Michael with D’Angelo Archer. Diamond publicly mourned her mother’s passing shortly after the accident on social media, expressing the deep loss with a heartfelt message and several crying emojis.
Angie began her music career in 1979 as a member of the all-female group, The Sequence, before transitioning to a successful solo artist in the 1990s. Her contribution to music, particularly through her album “Black Diamond,” has left an enduring legacy that resonates with fans.
This tragic event raises serious concerns about road safety and the responsibilities of drivers and companies in ensuring the safety of others on the road. The Stone family’s actions aim not only to seek justice but also to foster awareness around such accidents and the importance of accountability.
The loss of Angie Stone is deeply felt not just by those who knew her personally but also by countless fans who enjoyed her music and talent. As her family navigates this challenging time, they seek resolution and remembrance for a beloved artist whose life was cut short too soon.
