Shiloh Jolie, the daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, recently made waves by adopting a new nickname, “Shi.” The 19-year-old choreographed a dance performance that took place during a dinner to celebrate the launch of French designer Isabel Marant’s latest collection. This performance featured dancers Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuki alongside singer Luella.
Shiloh’s decision to go by a new name follows her legal move to remove Pitt from her hyphenated surname shortly after she turned 18 in May 2024. Her attorney, Peter Levine, highlighted that the young adult’s decision was made independently and should be treated with respect, rather than facing scrutiny from the media.
Shiloh isn’t alone in her choice. Her sister, Vivienne, also dropped Pitt from her name while working as a producer’s assistant on Broadway, and Zahara introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” without her father’s surname during a recent sorority event. Such shifts reflect the independence the sisters are seeking, following a tumultuous family history.
Brad Pitt, who has consistently expressed his love for all his children, is reportedly saddened by the changes in their surnames. His relationship with the kids has been strained since Angelina filed for divorce in 2016, which followed allegations of abuse—claims Pitt has denied.
Following a lengthy legal battle, Angelina and Brad finalized their divorce in December 2024, bringing a long chapter of their lives to a close. In a statement, Angelina’s lawyer emphasized the long road to establishing peace and healing for their family since the initial separation.
As the family continues to navigate this transformative period, Shiloh’s latest endeavors indicate her desire to carve out her own identity in the spotlight.
