Couple Found Dead in Encino Home After Recent Crime Concerns
Los Angeles police confirmed that Robin Kaye, a music supervisor for “American Idol,” and her husband, Thomas Deluca, were discovered dead in their Encino home on July 14. Both were victims of gunshot wounds. Notably, the couple had recently met with the police chief to discuss rising crime in their neighborhood.
Raymond Boodarian, 22, faces charges in connection with the incident. Just days before their deaths, Kaye had shared her worries about crime at city council meetings. On July 10, authorities had responded to two burglary calls from the couple’s home, but left after finding no signs of forced entry.
Upon their return from a grocery trip, it’s alleged that the couple encountered Boodarian, who had entered through an unlocked door. Tragically, within an hour, both Kaye and Deluca were killed with their own firearm.
Despite being aware of the couple’s situation, it took days for police to find their bodies. Following a welfare check request from a friend, investigators discovered that Kaye and Deluca had been dead for several days.
Boodarian was arrested shortly after the incident. Authorities believe he had attempted to burglarize the home and that the couple’s return led to a violent confrontation. He has been charged with murder and residential burglary, but has not yet entered any pleas.
District Attorney Nathan Hochman expressed grief over the tragic event, stating that it brought to light serious concerns about safety in the area. Neighbors voiced their frustrations regarding crime and demanded more from local authorities for protection.
Kaye and Deluca had been beloved figures in their community. The couple met at a concert in 1983 and had a strong bond, known for their dedication to each other and their pets.
Since their passing, family and friends have shared their sorrow. Kaye’s long-time friend described her as a confidant and an integral part of their lives. Deluca, a talented musician, performed with various bands and made notable connections in the industry.
In light of this tragedy, the community remains focused on finding ways to enhance safety and support each other as they cope with the loss of the couple who touched many lives.
