All 46 Senate Seats Up for Grabs in South Carolina
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – As attention turns towards the upcoming presidential election, many local races are also gaining momentum across South Carolina, particularly in the Midlands area.
Reporter Alex Tejada is at the Tin Roof in the Vista, where members of the South Carolina Republican Party are gathered to watch the election results.
In the State House, Republicans are hoping to increase their influence. One key race is in Senate District 26, which has been recently redrawn. Democratic Senator Nikki Sessler has chosen to retire, paving the way for new candidates.
Democratic Representative Russell Ott, who currently serves House District 93, is competing after Senator Dick Harpootlian lost in the Democratic Primary. Ott will face Republican Jason Guerry, who secured the GOP nomination in June.
Both candidates previously visited our ABC Columbia studio to discuss their plans for a district that now includes parts of Richland, Lexington, and Calhoun counties.
