Al Calderon Says Farewell to Days of Our Lives to Pursue New Adventures
Actor Al Calderon, known for his role as Javi Hernandez on the popular soap opera Days of Our Lives, announced his departure from the show. The 31-year-old shared the news on his Instagram Stories on August 6.
Calderon joined Days of Our Lives last year and quickly made a mark as Javi, who is the cousin to characters Rafe and Gabi. In his farewell message, he expressed deep gratitude to the cast and crew, calling his time on the show “life-changing.” He wrote, “I’m endlessly grateful to the cast, crew, and creatives who made me feel seen, valued, and part of a legacy of family.”
He continued to reflect on his journey, mentioning, “I’ll carry the love, lessons, and memories with me on every journey I go on.” He shared heartfelt sentiments, emphasizing that it’s not goodbye but a “see you later.”
Calderon is moving on to join the second season of NBC’s Brilliant Minds, where he will portray a character named Scotty Silva. This new series follows Dr. Oliver Wolf, a neurologist in New York City. Celebrating this new opportunity, Calderon posted, “Hold up, lemme get my scrubs on right quick,” on social media.
Reflecting on his time at Days of Our Lives, Calderon said he gained significant confidence as an actor. He stated, “I feel like I can conquer anything after this.” Playing the role of Javi, who is a member of the LGBTQ community, he acknowledged the responsibility and honor of portraying a character that could change perceptions.
