An incident in Minnesota involving an ICE agent and a woman following them has sparked debate. The encounter occurred just two days after the death of Renee Good, who was fatally shot by an ICE agent.
The woman, who wishes to remain unnamed, recorded the incident on her phone in St. Louis Park. She told WCCO radio that she was following ICE agents after learning they were at a local mall. Her intention was to record any arrests and document the names of those taken into custody.
She claims that an ICE vehicle intentionally braked hard, causing another car to rear-end it. She then began filming the agents from a distance, which led to an agent approaching her.
According to the woman, the agent asked her, “Have y’all not learned from the past couple of days?” She questioned what lesson she was supposed to have learned. The agent responded by mentioning following federal agents before allegedly grabbing her phone and ending the recording.
The woman further alleges that she was later arrested, her head was slammed onto her car, and she was handcuffed. She also claims the agent made a threatening statement about shooting her. She says she was later released after other people arrived and she asked them to call the police.
The woman states that she is part of a community group that tracks ICE activity in the area. She believes she did nothing wrong and wants to raise awareness about what is happening in her community.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem previously announced plans to send additional agents to Minnesota to support ICE’s work. The shooting of Renee Good has led to protests against ICE across the country.
