Former College Admissions Worker Charged with Attempted Sex Trafficking
A 29-year-old former admissions worker at Emmanuel College in Boston has been charged with attempting to sex traffic a minor. Jacob Henriques reportedly offered to pay a 17-year-old student for sex shortly after she visited the campus.
Henriques, who held the position of Assistant Admissions Director, was dismissed from his job when the allegations emerged. The FBI is currently investigating to determine if there are more victims involved.
According to legal documents, Henriques allegedly contacted the student just hours after her campus tour. He started sending her texts from the phone number she provided on her admissions form, offering her $400 for sex and sharing explicit material.
After the minor blocked his messages, Henriques allegedly attempted to contact her via email. Investigators noted that he accessed her school profile multiple times over a few days.
Henriques is also accused of sending inappropriate messages to other students on the same day. The FBI is looking for further information about potential additional victims.
In a statement, Emmanuel College expressed its deep concern over the matter and confirmed that it acted quickly upon learning of the situation, cooperating fully with law enforcement. They emphasized their commitment to the safety of their community.
If convicted, Henriques could face severe penalties, including a minimum of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He is scheduled to appear in court soon.
