NYC Mayor Claims Justice Department Under Biden Used “Lawfare”
Outgoing New York City Mayor Eric Adams has voiced strong concerns about the actions of the Justice Department under President Biden, claiming they have unfairly targeted political opponents.
Adams suggests that the Justice Department has been using its power to go after those who disagree with them, including everyday Americans and even former President Donald Trump. He specifically mentioned the investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents as an example of this alleged abuse of power.
“I think what we have witnessed under President Biden’s Justice Department, Americans should never have to live through that again,” Adams said.
Adams believes these actions are a misuse of the legal system, turning it into a weapon against political rivals. He stated that he felt more strongly about the alleged weaponization of the DOJ after he was targeted.
Adams himself faced federal corruption charges. He believes his case was politically motivated, stemming from his criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of immigration. It’s worth noting the charges against Adams were eventually dropped earlier this year.
As Adams prepares to leave office, his comments raise important questions about fairness and impartiality within the Justice Department. These concerns are likely to fuel further debate about the role of politics in legal proceedings.
