Minnesota Activist Under Scrutiny After Church Protest
A well-known activist in Minnesota, Nekima Levy Armstrong, is facing questions after leading a protest at a local church. The demonstration targeted a pastor believed to be involved with federal immigration enforcement.
Armstrong, who also runs a cannabis business, previously headed a non-profit organization called the Wayfinder Foundation. Tax records show that during her time as director, from 2019 to 2024, she received a substantial salary and benefits package.
While Armstrong was paid over $900,000 during her leadership, the amount of money the Wayfinder Foundation gave to community programs was significantly less. Some are now wondering if the non-profit put its money to the best use, with more funds going to its director than to the causes it claimed to support.
The Wayfinder Foundation has received donations from groups like the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation and the Walton Family Foundation, associated with the founders of Wal-Mart. The non-profit stated its focus was on supporting black women who want to challenge the current system.
Armstrong’s actions and the financial practices of the Wayfinder Foundation are now under increased scrutiny, raising concerns about the use of funds intended for community support. This also shines a light on her previous endorsements of controversial figures, including one convicted of killing a state trooper.
